just a cute picture

Whew! Fall is almost over. Patrick's lunches got kinda boring so I stopped posting. I still take pictures occasionally and will post them over time. As you can see from this pic, Molly is wearing a cast and I'm working on a big post of what I have learned about kids wearing casts. You know, the stuff you wished you knew before the cast went on! Have a great holiday everyone!

Patrick loves all things fig so I was very happy to see that Trader Joe's has fig butter now! I think it is a new product and it is always nice to have something alternative for his sandwiches.

Halloween Knight

Growing up I always had elaborate Halloween costumes, usually made by my grandmother. I was snow white, minnie mouse, a fairy and a clown complete with a squirting flower. My kids like Halloween, mostly for the candy but they do enjoy dressing up too. Unfortunately my sewing skills are mostly self taught and no where near my grandmothers. Molly and I were at goodwill and found a very nice Cinderella costume for $6.50! All I need for her is a crown and some shoes. Patrick decided he wants to be a knight. I'm thinking, how hard could it be to DIY a knight costume? I took him to look at some patterns and we didn't find anything. I found out that knights wear grey or silver - not the red or blue I had in mind! So last weekend I had a 50% off coupon and a few minutes by myself at the fabric store. And I found this....
doesn't it look like chain armor?

YAY! I'm so excited to see how this turns out!

Top - Ants on a log, ham. Transformers pics are leftover from Patrick's cancelled birthday party.
Bottom - snap pea crisps, apricots, chocolates.
The glass spice jar is filled with granola.
